15 Wonderful and Awesome Places Must Visit before they Disappear Forever
Wonderful
Earth has amazing and stunning wonders which are never imagine or unreal. Some
of them very natural and some of them human built. Among the nine planets of
the Solar system, Earth is one where founded life. But, there are many more at this
planet which always enthralls the people. In these list, many places which are
always fascinates and adventurous such as Amazon Rainforest, Glacier national
parks, Galapagos islands, Suburbans, highest mountains peaks, Coral reefs and
many more but today these places are going to disappear in few years. These
places are effecting by human works like deforestation, pollution, illegal
fishing, ocean acidifications, logging, highest tourism so on. People cutting
the forest for their uses but, in other hand they are easily increasing high
temperature and the result is global warming. Due to the global warming, there
numbers of glaciers are melting and in oppose the sea level become high at the
end low level islands disappearing from the planet. These climate changes are
never holding and it’s increasing year by year. Though, one day these places
are only seeing at in photographs and before it’ll happen, visit these places.
Here,
15 places should visit before they vanish from the face of the earth.
Taj Mahal, India - One of Seven Wonders
List
in seven wonders of the world, Taj Mahal is most iconic place structure of the
country which is situated at bank of river Yamuna, Agra, India. This monument
also known as symbol of love and crown of palaces which was built by Mughal
Emperor Shah Jahan for his loving wife Mumtaz. However, this structure took
over 21 years for completion as all sides of Taj Mahal are perfectly identical
and beautiful mixture of Persian, Islamic and Indian architectural styles. This
place looks stunning in different shades in day like pinkish in morning, snowy
white at evening and golden at night as brightness of marble itself that makes
this most attractive monument in the world. Unfortunately, marble can’t stand
withstand Sulphur dioxide and both brightness and building of marble varies
with effect of Sulphur dioxide. Moreover, there are millions of visitors walk
through its doors and this volume of tourist arrival reason of the destruction
of the building. According the wardens of this, there are many reasons of
degrading this world heritage like air pollution, rive pollution and decaying
of the wood which supports the structure. Furthermore, the chemical used for
cleaning Taj Mahal also put down its beauty. If it continues like this Taj
Mahal will close for public in next 5 years by the Indian Government.
Glacier National Park - Montana, United States
Ranging over 1.6 square miles on the
US- Canada border, the Glacier National Park was once littered with wide
numbers of glaciers. Though, these 733 miles of hiking trails, Montana’s
Glacier National Park is a favorite destination for outdoorsy locals and
internationals. In 19th century, Glacier National Park in Montana
was full of more than 150 glaciers in the stunning 16,000 square miles of
protected land. The name of this park is “Crown of the Continent Ecosystem”,
but sadly this beautiful park loses a majority of its biodiversity with melting
of its glaciers. This park contains 176 lakes, 173 mountains, 23 glaciers and
200 waterfalls which attracts 30 million people every year as well as 270
unique species of birds make visit every year and rarest animals are found here
like elk, mountain goats and grizzly bears plus 1132 special of vascular
planets. This park has seen a 2-degree Celsius rise in temperature since 1990
while there were 150 active glaciers but now only 25 remains. The loss of 125
glaciers in a just 165 years of period due to huge climate change as the
melting of glaciers in national park also lead to forest fire and loss of fresh
water, so system and rare animals are in several threats. Scientist expects
that if planet continues to warm as its current rate, thus glaciers’ lifespan
of just next 15 years and destroy the numbers of wildlife which depends on its
cold climate.
Madagascar Rainforest – Southeast Africa
Located in Indian Ocean and fourth
largest island, Madagascar spread in 120,000 square miles in Southeast Africa
island country is home of the richest tropical rainforest and amazing wildlife
such as lemurs and mongoose, as well as it has approx. This island has higher
coral diversity and the world’s 3rd biggest coral system which are
toliara coral system as at the island. Here, there are 75% of species found
like fat-tailed geckos, tomato frogs and comet moths live nowhere else on
earth. Today, this rainforest is now down 20,00 square miles because of human
activities such as deforestation, poaching, logging, burning wood and excessive
hunting. Even, the island has lost more than 90% of its original forest, though
the result is vanishing of some nativel animal species and loss of coral
systems. However, there are only 20 species of lemurs found here and now they
are in danger of disappearing. The dense Eco system breaks due to illegal
fishing and extra extraction of charcoal and wood break. Predictors says about
it as it will disappear in 35 years, if the actions are not taken to save the
island.
The Great Barrier Reef – Northeast Coast Australia
Listed in seven natural wonders also
in UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Great Barrier Reef - largest coral reef in
the world which is spanning more than 1400 miles and located off northeast
coast of Australia. This only living thing that can be seen from the outer
space as it comprises 3000 individual reef systems and it is biggest single
structure made by living organisms. It is home of unbelievable, unique and
unmatched marine creatures including different 1500 species of fishes, 137
species of sharks, 6 species of threatened marine turtles and more than 30
species of other marine mammals that is making favorite tourist destination for
traveler. Unfortunately, this amazing and attractive underwater world could
soon be unrecognizable in few years because of global warming and coral bleaching
as 50% of the reef has disappeared in last 27 years and it would be
irreversibly damaged by the year 2030. Rising temperature, Ocean acidification,
illegal fishing, water pollution, shipping accident and other many factors
continue have been threatening this coral reef. Though, these tiny algae living
coral reef called zooxanthellae are responsible for the beautiful colors, after
conditions change 93% of the reef has been affected by the bleaching epidemic. As
well as, Australian government started new port in great barrier reef for trade
so water become turbid and noisy and this project become serious threat for
many species in this coral reef. Scientist predict that this top diving spot
dead within 40 years and taking numbers of sea life along with it before must
see these remarkable arrays of coral, fishes and other marine species.
The Amazon Rainforest- South America
The
largest tropical rainforest only covers 6% of the Earth’s surface, as it covers
1.4 billion acres. Though, they are home to more than half the world’s plants
and animals as it is so vast that nearly half of its falls in Brazil and
remaining spread out over Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and
Suriname. Some people called it “world’s lungs” where forest floor is almost
completely dark as less 1% area sunlight reached. However, there are 3000
fruits found in rainforest, animals, 20% bird’s species founded, medicines and
many more. A part from this, the rainforest has begun to be destroyed in the
last 100 years to make way for farm land because of global warming, destroyed,
mining, industry agriculture and illegal logging. Statistics says about future
climate change caused by greenhouse effect shows the Amazon rainforest could
become demolished under the several reduced conditions like rainfalls and
increase temperature and leading to an almost complete loss of rainforest cover
in the basin by 2100. Today, this rainforest is being destroyed by 1.50 acres
every second.
Galapagos Islands - Ecuador, Pacific Ocean
Called
by Charles Darwin as “a little world within itself”, Galapagos islands are
famed for their bio diversity and that was the reason he chose to study and
develop his theory of evolution here. Galapagos have own 19 volcanic archipelago
islands distributed in equator line in Pacific Ocean. These islands are home
for huge numbers of endemic species including flightless cormorant, giant
tortoises, blue footed booby, Galapagos Seas Lion and Hawks and Penguins. But,
here is same reason climate change is vividly changing the makeup of the
islands. These islands now become over populated by humans such as transportation,
deforestation, hunting and other many activities may cause the reasons. Furthermore,
islands have experiences an increase in tourism at 12% annually for the last
decade as hotels and restaurants being constructed and road also. As rising the
ocean temperature has responsible for reef die off and algae blooms as well as
native species and also wild animals have been affected by the decrease of
marine life. Though, this temperature continues to high and sea levels rising,
the nesting grounds of the Galapagos penguin will disappear soon. The reason of
Human settlement, a predict that 5% of the unique animal species of these islands
already face extinction, moreover trekking, illegal fishing and other motives
destroy the eco-system of these islands. Even, natural threats are such as volcano
eruptions and earthquakes also polluted Galapagos islands. Today, the
Ecuadorean government spreading awareness and has been preparing “Penguin
condos” inland and restrictions on tourism to the islands.
The Dead Sea – Between Israel and
Jordan
Positioned
between two countries Israel and Jorden, this salty lake main tributary 50
years ago as well as the shores of the sea are 423 meters below sea levels. The
Dead Sea is the lowest elevation on Earth as high slat concentration people can
float in it because of buoyancy and 33.7% salinity as 10 times saltier than
Ocean. However, it has rich source of minerals and potash those are regularly
using by industries as cosmetic and fertilizer respectively also lowest health
spa in the world which are good for body. Unfortunately, this useful Dead Sea
could be disappearing in next 50 years because of several reasons, like
neighbor country Jorden drawing water from the River Jordan, large scale mining
operations and many more. Reports says that, in last 40 years the lake has
shrunk by third and sunk 80 feet, moreover 3,000 or more sinkholes have opened
up on the shoreline in Israel side. Though, local scientist says that the
project will irrevocably compromise the Dead Sea’s eco system. Every year,
there is losing more than 3.3 feet, today the sea has lost 3rd of
water and there is no sign of a feasible solution. Government has plan created
to bring water from the Red Sea through underground pipeline, but it will cost
more than $10 billion, although bringing the fresh water also damaged the
wildlife around the sea.
Seychelles – Coast of Madagascar, Indian Ocean
Uncrowded white sand beaches, amazing aqua blue water and
wide verities of fish and other sea life as tiger shark, giant tortoises,
massive boulders and Manta rays, at Seychelles which is collection of around
115 islands in Indian Ocean and coast of Madagascar. Well, this is famous
destination for honeymooner and paradise lovers where have numerous luxury
resorts and enjoy every activity on water or land and awesome beauty all
around. However, there are 50% of islands are chosen as protected parks and two
areas are listed in World Heritage Sites such as Vallee de Mai on Praslin and
the Fabled Aldabra. Though, as similar islands
are facing hardship in Indian Ocean like Maldives, this island also suffered
damage due to bleaching and result in major beach erosion and rising the sea
level. Although, the largest reef die-off ever seen yet due to climate change.
Experts believe that, like the Maldives may be Seychelles in danger of sinking
completely in the next 50 years as these islands are not very high above the
sea level. Even, these beautiful biological wonders and approx. 90,000 people
are at risk of being displaced, too. Though, the government of Seychelles in
coordination with partners is aiming to conserve and protect its marine
biodiversity and help restore parts by barring fishing in certain area and
rejecting invasive species. So, some islands are already disappearing, making
now the best time to visit Seychelles while it has amazing beauty.
The Alps – European Mountains
Alps the great mountain and famous for skiing region in the world
which is lower altitude than the Rocky Mountains as the heights of 15,782 feet.
This mountain range can be seen from 8 countries in Europe as Austria, Italy,
Slovenia, Germany, France, Monaco, Liechtenstein and Switzerland like crescent
shaped boundary to Europe. However, it is the home of 13,000 large number of
rare species of vegetations and 30,000 species of wildlife as well as huge
number of glaciers. Furthermore, this is bulk number of sources of minerals
such as copper, gold, iron, cizzabar, quartz an amethyst as well as providing
rich source of water. But, the climate change is bringing challenges for the
mountain range, around 3% of Alpine glacial ice is lost per year and scientist
mean that these glaciers could lost totally by 2050. Avalanches, hot water and
global warming are the major reason for as melting down the Alps every year. As
growing the temperature and snowmelt continues the season for winter sports are
shorten every year. The same reason of all above regarding climate, don’t miss
the chance to enjoy the beauty of Alps mountains.
Sundarbans – between India and Bangladesh
On the border of India and
Bangladesh, the Sundarbans is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites of India
which famous for two things: Royal Bengal Tiger and Mangrove forest. However, this
low dying delta region is home numerous endangered unique threated species as
tree climbing mudskipper fishes, Saltwater Crocodile, Olive Ridley Turtle,
Gangetic dolphin and Mangrove horseshoe crabs. Today, this world heritage
Biosphere is submerged under water as increasing threat from harmful sewage,
industrial pollution, deforestation for timber, continued reliance on fossil
fuels. Though, here sea levels are fast rising the impact of global warming and
it is approximated that over 10,000 inhabitants of this region are now
environmental refugees. As the year to come, the environment will continue to
change in dangerous ways.
Mount Kilimanjaro – Tanzania, Africa
Another picturesque volcanic mountain of Kilimanjaro effected
by Global warming. The Snow of Mount Kilimanjaro, on the wintry slopes in
highest peak in Tanzania, Africa. This lovely place famous for centuries for
its beautiful glaciers, but this snow cover is quickly decreasing like other
glaciers around the world. However, the top of the mountain reach there is
biggest challenge nut once at the top, the site of the vast fields of makes the
trip worth all the effort. More than 85% of the ice of Africa’s tallest peak
has vanished as well as Scientists projected that this 10,000 years old
mountain’s glaciers will completely disappear from this peak within the next
two decades. Even, in 1912 scientist found that 85% of ice has melted and more
than a quarter of the ice present in 2000 is no longer there.
Machu Picchu – Peru
Known as “The Lost Country”, Machu Picchu is
home to the ruins of the medieval Inca Empire which is located at high in the
Andes Mountains. This lost country was discovered in 1911, after the years this
place listed in a must visit for the traveler around the world. However, this
2430 meters above sea level historical place will be lost in few years because
of its effected by erosion, landslides as well as hordes of visitors every
year. According to the archaeologists, this fragile ruin is being damaged by
all visitors tromping around the boots and climbing and jumping on the site’s
architecture. Though, the government of the Peruvian has put some restrictions
in to the place, so hopefully protect Machu Picchu as only 2500 visitors for
the day to this UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, the park is planning
on implementing several new regulations in middle of 2014 as it’s worth visit
place but make sure not to ruin the ruins.
Venice – The City of Canals, Italy
The city of canals, City of Water, Floating City,
Romantic City i.e. names are enough to call this considering the most romantic
city in the world, Venice, Italy. Venice is one of the beautiful cities of
Italy, where it connecting 118 small islands by canals and 400 foot bridges.
This floating city is globally famous for heritage sites and architecture which
are situated at wood platforms as well as boat called gondolas. However, this
city become 28st most visiting city in the world as every day there are approx.
50000 visitors come here and one of them foremost attractions are Grand canal
boat tours and Carnival of Venice. Though, this amazing city is also become
history for the world because of floods and rising sea levels and huge waves of
tourism this situation to become more striking. Moreover, flooding has
increasing year by year, even scientists are questioning how long Venice can
stay above the water. In recent past year 2012, there were 70% of the city was
damaged by the worst flooding that city had seen in 22 years and today flooding
bogs the square about 100 times each year that not surprising its sinking 0.08
inch per year. The reports say that Venice could sink by more than 7 inches
each 100 year, so it can be predicting that Venice could start to vanish before
2100. In fact, the city is losing its pollution as in 1951, there were 1,70000
people lived here, and today only 60,000 people call Venice home as these
people are driven away because of high home and food prices and some of them
the crush of tourists.
The Maldives – Paradise for honeymooners, Indian Ocean
Crystal blue waters with colorful
fishes, white sand pristine beaches, five star resorts, enjoying snorkeling and
beautiful water bungalows attracts for honeymoon goers every year. Similarly,
this attractive and popular island contain 1190 coral islands which are spread
over 820 km. However, future doesn’t bright for this lowest lying country as
quickly overcame by the surrounding Indian Ocean. This island has an average
elevation of around 5 feet above the sea level among them over 80% of the 1,200
islands are less than one meter above the sea level. As people are not aware of
the fact that this group of islands not here to last long. Though, this will be
the first country to be whole submerged because of global warming an eventually
by end of the 21st century, if sea level continues to rise at this
current rate. In 2004 Tsunami, only 9 of its 1000 islands escaped flooding.
Furthermore, the ocean acidification through men’s daily activities also reason
the changes the core system of Maldives. So, people who want to explore
Maldives’ coral reefs, private villas and sandy beaches, right time to plan
trip now. Although, the President Mohmed Nasheed held a press conference
underwater to highlight the danger faced by this country. And, government has
purchased land in other countries for their citizens who face
displacement.
Well, the list is not completing yet, there are several
numbers of places, mountains, landscapes, animal, wild life centuries, islands,
rainforests and many more that could be lost in next few years or decades. I’ll
discuss in next in my next blog.
